Important: Recovery depends on the procedure performed. Follow the specific instructions given to you.
Track A: Debridement or simple arthroscopy
Day 0–3: Elevation, ice, quads sets, ankle pumps. Weight-bear as tolerated with crutches, wean as safe.
Week 1: Bike when wounds are healed, heel slides, straight-leg raises, short walks.
Week 2–4: Strength and balance, step-ups, return to office work, light gym.
Sport: Low impact from 2–3 weeks, higher impact 4–6 weeks if symptoms settle.
Track B: Meniscal repair
Weight-bearing: Often partial for several weeks.
Range: Flexion limits commonly to 90 early, then gradual increase.
Brace: Often used to protect repair.
Return to running: Around 3 months.
Pivoting sport: Usually 4–6+ months after testing.
Red flags: Fever, heavy wound leakage, increasing redness, calf pain or swelling, locking. Seek review.
Your plan may differ. Follow the instructions you receive from Dr Shatrov.
